Riding "A-style" with PureBoarding

Contributed by tom. April 2007.

Activity: Alpine snowboarding

Joerg from PureBoarding and a dozen guests came to Aspen again for a 10-day April trip. Lisa and I had a great trip riding with PureBoarding last year, and jumped at the opportunity to ride with them again.

Brief review of "TWO"

The toeside "problem"

This is a bit of a joke, but Jack M's "toeside problem" article proposes that there's a right way and a wrong way to do a toeside turn. Both Lisa and the PureBoarding instructor Remo appear in the "A style", i.e. wrong style, section. I got a laugh out of it, as there are a ton of ways to do a solid toeside turn. I wouldn't do a fully laid out turn on an icy slope, but I like to mix different turn styles, it makes my day more fun. So beware, all the photos on this page are "A style" :)

At Buttermilk, for the last run of the day, Joerg, Richie, and Dirk went into the super pipe! Dirk took a fast run and jumped out of the pipe, over the big rail on the side (probably 5 feet over it), and crash-landed on the other side. It was impressive to see such huge air!
