Starting 2005 carving season at Monarch

Activity: Carving

Location: Monarch

Whoo-hooo! Monarch opened up again, and with the 20 inch new snow from the last weekend we had to go! It took an evening of mounting / remounting / adjusting our boards and the Bomber Trench-Digger-2 bindings (with Scott's invaluable help) to get it all ready. We were on the slopes first thing, middle of the week, almost nobody in sight!

Lisa got back into the swing of things fairly quickly -- had some hard times getting the back boot clicked in, but her boarding was good:

I had a harder time -- although there is no doubt in my mind that skateboarding this summer and fall helped, I was leaning way too far on the toe-side turns, putting too much weight on the back leg, and still flapping my arms to help turn. I was on a 165cm board, glad that I didn't take the 180cm Donek instead :) Again, based on Scott's good advice.

But with all the falling, I still had a great time, and managed to pull of a few 4-5 linked carve turns. Can't wait to go back!
